1. The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan

This book is first of a spin-off series of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians. It has so much action, suspense, and mystery. Gaea has awakened (partially) and sent her sons (the anti-god giants) to destroy the gods. Three kids, Jason Grace, Piper McLean, and Leo Valdez are off on Happy the Dragon to save the world. Each demigod has a special power that their half-siblings don't have (except for one in Piper's cabin). Piper's father is brought into the world of gods, as a hostage. Leo's past is coming back to haunt him. And Jason can barely remember who he is, and where he came from. And it made me hate waiting for the next one, The Son of Neptune.

2. The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan

This relieves readers of the suspense that Rick Riordan gave them in The Lost Hero. We find Percy in the middle of a fight with gorgons, Medusa's sisters, who want revenge for killing their sister, Medusa. We also find Roman demigods, and that they are missing their leader too, Jason Grace. Percy meets Frank and Hazel, who, like him, have odd powers. Percy doesn't remember anything from his other life, except his short-time girlfriend (long-time best friend), Annabeth Chase. Frank's life depends on a stick, and Hazel was dead. Looks like life has problems with them. They're sent on a quest to free Death, because if he is chained, no one can die. They meet a giant there, the one Hazel had known from long ago. We end with a ending that makes the Mark of Athena a book that nobody wants to wait for.
